I picked this one up because of the series name Demon Elite and was hopeful for a paranormal story. Well that was not the case and the name was never explained. The story gave no clue as to its meaning in this contemporary setting which was very disappointing.
Overall this story felt very rushed. I did not understand Crash’s reaction to Elijah. I did not really understand Elijah’s history or Crash’s for that matter either. I spent a lot of time wondering why Crash, who was presented as having no heart and who had a very set in stone attitude, would break all his rules for a “criminal” he had just met.
I thought the story concept was good but the execution needed development. The entire story felt disjointed and too much happened off page and as if the reader already knew things. I constantly had to reread to determine if I missed something or if it just wasn’t there. And in the end, I’m not even sure what the story was about because I lost the bad guy thread in favor of the INSTA-love but then the bad guys randomly ended up dead with a new even bigger bad girl that came out of nowhere. There was very little Demon Elite in the book and so I was left feeling very dissatisfied.
I am going to read the next book in the series because I have it in my possession but if I didn’t have it, I probably wouldn’t continue this series. Maybe book 2 will redeem this series for me.
